How we met

We met the modern way, both swiping right on Bumble in early June 2022. We quickly hit it off over Chip’s ‘two truths and a lie’ prompt.

Courtney got it wrong the first time around - can you guess correctly?

  • Chip once fell off a 30ft cliff with no injuries

  • Chip only went to one high school…but has two different high school diplomas

  • Chip has ridden an ostrich!

We almost dined & dashed on our first date...

It was a drizzly Sunday in when we first met for a drink at Sedona Taphouse in Norwalk, CT. Conversation flowed and before we knew it, three hours had flown by. Chip couldn’t believe Courtney could talk just as much as he does, and Court couldn’t believe this cute funny guy with the stunning blue eyes was still single.

When a large group came in and took over the bar, we decided that was our cue to head home. Excited by the connection we had just made, both of us left in a cloud of excitement and new romance...without a thought for the check!

Courtney immediately got lost in updating her friends (as a girl does after a first date) but luckily Chip remembered as he got in his car that nobody had closed out the bill. A true gentleman, he dashed back to pay - the very nice bartender had just assumed we were both in the restroom. The rest, as they say, is history…

The Proposal

The Ninja Turtles helped Chip propose

Fast forward to July 4th, 2025 when Chip suggested a lunch picnic at Waveny park. Waveny has been a favorite spot of ours since our second date / dog walk (when Chip first met Court’s sassy pup, Peaches.)

As soon as we sat down at our favorite bench, sandwiches and drinks in hand, Chip wandered off to chat with a nearby family (he’s always making new friends!) The mom pointed out four turtles in the pond, distracting Courtney from a secret phone handoff to film the big question. When Courtney turned back around to joke about the four “ninja turtles” with Chip, he was on one knee.

We never got that mom’s name, but are forever grateful for the memory she captured for us! A few weeks later, we were back selecting Waveny as our wedding venue, which brings us to today!
