FAQs
What is the dress code for your wedding?
Our requested dress code is formal. Feel free to embrace the fall season and wear your favorite autumnal or jewel tones!
Need some inspiration? For ladies, formal generally means dresses with a hem from mid-calf to floor length, in an elevated fabric like velvet, satin, taffeta, etc. Elegant pantsuits / jumpsuits in similar fabrics are also appropriate. For gentlemen formal dress calls for a suit and tie (tuxedo not required!) Additional formal dress assistance can be found on The Knot.
Are children welcome / can I bring a guest?
Due to the limited space and the historic nature of our venue, only those formally invited on your wedding invitation can be accommodated. Your full party will be shown on the RSVP form; just search the name of one member of your party, and all available guests linked to that party will be named. If you have a plus-one, they will be listed as “Guest” and you can provide their name during the RSVP process.
Unfortunately this means we also cannot welcome children outside of the wedding party; we hope you can use this as a date night to get out and have fun!
Will there be kosher/vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free food options?
Yes; our caterer is well versed in accommodating varying diets. You will be able to note any dietary restrictions & allergies when you RSVP so that we can accommodate you.
What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
We ask that guests be seated by 4:30 so that we may begin promptly at 4:45. You may begin arriving at 3:50; prior to that the driveway to the house may be blocked, but parking will be available so feel free to enjoy Waveny’s beautiful grounds!
Will the celebrations take place indoors or outdoors?
All celebrations will take place at Waveny House in New Canaan, CT.
Our ceremony will take place on the West Terrace which is covered, but open air, so will be subject to the outside temperature. As the name suggests, the West Terrace is western facing - so guests may want to bring some sunglasses in case the sun decides to join us for the festivities!
Weather permitting, the cocktail hour will take place on the open veranda, with dinner & reception to follow inside the house.
October weather in Connecticut can be fickle, so we recommend you bring a warm layer just in case! A coat check will be available inside the mansion so you do not have to carry your layers with you if we end up with a warm day.
Is there someone I can contact if I have any other questions about the wedding?
